Who We Are

Mississauga & Brampton counselling service by psychotherapists, psychologists & counselling interns.

Healing Roots Therapy

Healing Roots Therapy believes that to maintain a healthy balance and an overall wellness in life it is essential that we attend to our whole being, body, mind and spirit. Gaining an awareness and understanding of our needs plays a vital role in how we grow as individuals, manage the relationships we have with loved ones and our self, and how we live our lives.

We offer all individuals a safe space to develop an increased awareness and understanding of their internal self and the relationships they share with loved ones, through support and guidance on a humanistic level. Through mutual respect and positive communication, clients and counsellors are able to establish a safe and positive therapeutic relationship.

All individuals are unique and experience different challenges throughout life and therefore, the journey towards healing for every client is understood to be uniquely different. We take a client-centred approach when working with clients by encouraging individuals to learn more about themselves and the challenges they may face.

Our Office

Our Philosophy

CURRENTLY UNABLE TO ACCEPT NEW CLIENTS OR BOOK APPOINTMENTS UNTIL MARCH 2021

I am a Registered Psychotherapist and founder of Healing Roots Therapy, who is devoted to working collaboratively with Individuals, Couples and Families to develop a plan that’s best tailored to each individual's needs. I completed my Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality with a concentration in working with Couples and Families. My training, also, included incorporating spirituality into the therapy process, which allows me to integrate clients' spiritual beliefs and values into their goals and treatment plan, should they wish to do so. I believe that therapy is not just about addressing our thoughts, emotions and needs, but also about helping clients connect to something greater than themselves.

My Treatment Focus

I take a client-centred approach to therapy, as I believe that you are the expert of yourself.  My role is not to “fix” or “change” you, but to assist you in gaining awareness of your underlying emotions, beliefs or assumptions in an honest and compassionate way.

Through a safe, non-judgemental and supportive therapeutic environment I will work with you to help explore your inner strengths and where you find yourself stuck. Our partnership will allow your voice to be heard, challenge your thinking, help you to gain a new perspective and assist you in making effective choices that will enable you to live the life you want to live. Together we will develop a treatment plan that is best suited for your needs and your goals for therapy.

My Commitment to You

Life is a journey of unexpected twists and turns and we all, at one time or another, find ourselves facing obstacles that can sometimes prevent us from enjoying life more fully. My goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. Counselling is an opportunity for you to gain clarity and support for the challenges you are facing in a compassionate, honest and safe way. It would be a honour to walk alongside and support you through your journey of change, growth and healing.

I am a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Windsor.
My professional experience includes working with individuals, families, and couples who may be experiencing low-self esteem, anxiety, relationship conflicts, and more.

My focus is help rebuild esteem, intimacy, trust, and friendship. Together, we can work on healing and provide you with the tools to grow individually, as a family, and/or couple to (re)establish a stronger sense of self; ensuring that when working with couples and families, we collaboratively cultivate, and maintain mutual respect while feeling heard, seen, valued, understood, and supported by your partner/family members.

My Treatment Focus
I use evidence-based practises, including but not limited to, Emotion Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, Gottman and Strengths Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. All to help you rediscover the resilience, strength, and courage within you. Everyone is unique, thus I do not use ‘one-size fits all’ approach. I want to work with you to help you achieve your goals, using a treatment plan that is just for you.

My Commitment to You
I believe in a judgment-free approach, with a focus on honesty, openness, and transparency, where everyone is attended to equally, with no favouritism. I work from an intersectional, holistic, trauma-informed, person (client) centered approach. I see you as a whole person and I recognize all interlocking identities; race, ethnicity, spirituality, socio-economic status, gender, and ability all make you who you are. I promise to see you as you are and meet you exactly where you are. Healing is a journey, and seeking help is indicative of your courage, so wherever you are on your path to a healthier you, I am here to help.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and my passion in life is helping people make positive change in themselves, their lives, and their relationships with others. My professional experience includes 18 years of counselling, case management, risk assessment, and crisis intervention work for the federal government. Having spent most of my career working in the Greater Toronto Area, I have had the privilege of working with, and learning from, a highly diverse clientele from a wide range of cultures, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds, including working with individuals, couples, and families on issues related to relationships, anxiety, depression, stress management, job stress/burnout, grief/loss, and life transitions, which are any major change that has a significant impact upon your life.

My Treatment Focus

I practice from an integrative approach, which means that your treatment plan will be unique to you, and based upon your individual needs, goals, and personality. I am drawn to approaches that are strengths-based, future-oriented, goal-driven, and evidence-based, and utilize techniques from Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. This means that rather than focusing on what you consider to be your problems or weaknesses, or events that happened in your past, most our time together will be spent focusing on the present and the future, and on identifying the positive qualities, inner strengths, and resources you already have within you so that we can build upon them and use them to bring about positive change in your life.

My Commitment to You

I believe that everyone is capable of making positive change in their lives and in their relationships. My role as a therapist is to help you clearly define the positive changes you want to make, whether they are specific goals or a vision of how you would like your life to look, and then guide and support you as you work toward achieving positive change in your life.

I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. I offer you my commitment that when we work together, I will listen to you with an open mind, treat you with kindness and respect, act in your best interest, and guide and support you to the very best of my ability, because seeing you succeed in making the positive changes you want to make in your life and your relationships is my ultimate goal as a therapist.

Hello! I am a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Marriage and Family Therapist. I have been privileged to work with people, relationships and families from all walks of life. They have been gracious enough to bring their concerns (ranging from personal identity, trauma, stress, and grief all the way to challenging behaviours, challenging or unfulfilling relationship dynamics, parenting challenges, transitions, and school related concerns), their best hopes and above all their strengths and I look forward to supporting you in a similar way.

My Treatment Focus

My therapeutic approach is heavily based in strengths-based therapy including: Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

My Commitment to You

In addition to working from within the strengths you hold, I will be creating a safe, judgement free, anti-racisit, anti-oppressive space, collaboratively with and for you. It is in this space, I look forward to meaningful and intentional conversations with all those who enter the space, in efforts to reach your best hopes. I hold the stance of you are the expert on you and I am the expert on asking the questions. Through these questions we will work together to move closer to your hopes, one step at a time through meaningful and tangible actions.

My experience includes working with issues surrounding self-worth, self-esteem, relational issues, cultural issues, and identity. As always, I am particularly interested in working with BIPOC clients from communities of colour.

My Treatment Focus

My approach to therapy is intuitive and sincere. I aim to show up as authentically as possible. My methods are evidence-based and client-centered as I am to work with a person's wholeness rather than focusing on just one part of the picture. I tend to lean on a hybrid psychodynamic approach that includes narrative therapy, inner child work, mindfulness, and some cognitive behavioural therapy.

My Commitment to You

I believe therapy is a collaborative process and is all about working to discover the self in order to best figure out how to safely navigate life's ups and downs. As your therapist, I do not claim to have all the answers. My main focus is on developing a strong therapeutic relationship to collaboratively facilitate healing. Through self-empowerment, the right tools, and open communication, I hope to be one step towards your larger goals.

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology, Counselling & Psychotherapy, from the University of Toronto. I believe that therapy is a unique, shared and very human experience. Whether you’re looking to address something specific, want to explore a painful experience or emotion, want to gain perspective and personal understanding, or looking for a safe, open space, I hope to be supportive of your path in therapy. My professional experience includes providing mental health support within the community, and providing therapy within the post-secondary setting. Some areas I address in therapy are stress, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, relationships and relational dynamics, loss, life transitions, sense of self, identity, and personal growth.

My Treatment Focus

As a therapist, I am moved and motivated by our drive to heal, cope, grow and connect to others and meaningful aspects of our lives. As we connect in therapy, I believe in building a therapeutic relationship that is based on empathic understanding, curiosity, compassion and authenticity. I also strive to create a holistic space that acknowledges and explores different aspects of your identity, and your experiences within the contexts that shape your life.

In practice, I am person-centered and integrative, drawing from different approaches to facilitate your unique journey in therapy. Some approaches I draw from are emotion-focused therapy, mindfulness-based interventions, contemporary psychodynamic and relational therapy; while working within a trauma-informed, strengths-based framework.

My Commitment To You

In our work together, I hope to meet you where you are, work with you to support your path in therapy, and foster a shared understanding of your experiences. I hope to build a collaborative therapeutic relationship with you, and strive to create a space that feels safe, empowering and supportive to you.

You are the expert of your life, yourself and your healing, and I honour this in our work together. Reaching out is a courageous step, and I thank you for considering me to share this journey with you.

As a counsellor, I would describe myself as empathetic, positive and encouraging.

My Treatment Focus

My practice is guided by a strengths-based and recovery-based approach, while utilizing a variety of therapeutic modalities that include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. With these techniques, I will work with you to develop strategies and equip you with the necessary tools to move toward positive change, bring you closer to your goals and successfully face life’s challenges.

My Commitment To You

My goal is to assist clients in achieving empowerment, resiliency and wellness throughout their recovery. I am committed to providing a compassionate, safe, non-judgmental space for you to freely express your feelings, challenges and concerns. With the understanding that all clients are unique while bringing their own stories and experiences, I will tailor my counselling sessions in order to reflect your needs and values. Together, we will address arising challenges and build upon the strengths and the abilities that reside within you so you may regain control over your life. I would be humbled and honoured to join you in your journey to recovery.

As a psychotherapy intern, I am dedicated to work alongside clients and aid those seeking personal growth. I am currently in my second year of my Master’s degree and specialize in Counselling Psychology. My experience thus far surrounds applying fundamental counselling theories, skills, and interventions into practice in any given circumstance. I am particularly interested in working with individuals and issues surrounding anxiety, depression, self-esteem or self-concept, and trauma.

My Treatment Focus

My treatment approach is holistic and largely follows a Humanistic theoretical framework, where I focus on the whole person and the uniqueness of each individual. My treatment focus incorporates techniques and styles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Positive Psychology, Narrative Therapy, and other psychotherapeutic approaches. Implementing these specialized theories and techniques allow me to connect with and understand my clients using empathy and unconditional positive regard, while also promoting personal agency, safety, and change.

My Commitment to You

I acknowledge how the stigma around seeking mental health assistance might impact clients and strive to normalize it through bettering the reputation of therapy. My commitment to clients surrounds transparency, a strong working relationship, and high ethical standards. I believe that therapy is more than seeking help, it is the first step in changing something that is not satisfactory in our life. My role is to facilitate change by providing empathetic support, empowerment, and the right tools to aid you in reaching your therapeutic goals.
