Healing Roots Therapy

Affordable Therapy In Mississauga & Online Across Ontario

Quality mental health support at a reduced fee, for children, teens, adults, couples, and families who need care that fits what they can manage right now.

Affordable therapy can help you and your family:

Affordable support without reduced quality in care

Work through anxiety, depression, trauma, or burnout

Build tools you can use every day

Lovely mother and daughter reading a children's story in the bedroom with baby boy

Cost shouldn't decide who gets to feel better

You’re not putting off therapy because you don’t want it. You’re waiting for a month where the numbers work. Rent goes up, the car needs something, your benefits ran out in March, and your mental health keeps sliding to the bottom of a list where everything already feels urgent. Then the month comes, and something else has bumped therapy down the priority list.

Affordable therapy offers quality mental health care at a reduced rate so you can stop waiting for a better month to get the support you deserve.

Affordable Therapy In Mississauga

Affordable therapy might be right for you if you are:

  • Delaying therapy because the standard fee is too much right now
  • Carrying anxiety, low mood, or constant worry mostly on your own
  • Feeling drained, unmotivated, or unable to switch off at the end of the day
  • Having trouble sleeping, concentrating, or keeping up with everyday responsibilities
  • Experiencing tension at home, in your family, or in your relationship
  • Holding grief, trauma, or a hard experience you’ve never had space to unpack

Who Is Affordable Therapy For?

Reduced-fee appointments are open to anyone who needs support now, in person at our Mississauga clinic or through virtual therapy across Ontario, whichever fits your life better.

Kids and teens don’t always have the words for what’s going on, but you can usually see it somewhere: at school, at bedtime, in their mood, or in how things are going at home. We know that isn’t going to sort itself out while you wait for a better month. Reduced-fee appointments let you get your child support now, before it gets harder to shift.

Anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, and trauma don’t wait until you can afford them. We know you need help now. Reduced-fee sessions give you a regular hour with someone who can help you make sense of what’s going on and what to do about it.

The pressures that make therapy hard to afford, such as job stress, money worry, and too much on everyone’s plate, are often the same ones causing the tension at home. Affordable couples therapy and family therapy sessions give you space to work on communication, repair, and boundaries together, at a fee that won’t add to the strain.

Affordable therapy can support you or your family through:

  • Anxiety, worry, and feeling on edge
  • Depression, low mood, or loss of motivation
  • Stress, burnout, and being stretched too thin
  • Trauma and difficult past experiences
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship, couples, or family concerns
  • Low self-esteem, self-criticism, or perfectionism
  • Life transitions, identity questions, or big changes
  • Parenting concerns and behavioural challenges at home
  • Difficulty managing emotions, setting boundaries, or coping day to day

Questions About Affordable Therapy

Affordable therapy is professional psychotherapy offered at a reduced fee. The lower cost changes what you pay, not the value of what you’re going through or the care you receive. Sessions are still individualized and can include emotional processing, practical strategies, goal-setting, skill-building, and regular review of how things are going. These appointments may be offered by select fully registered practitioners or by supervised graduate-level psychotherapy interns. If you’ve been searching for low-cost therapy in Mississauga or online across Ontario, this is what that looks like at our clinic.

No. A psychotherapy intern is completing advanced graduate-level clinical training and works under the ongoing supervision of an experienced senior practitioner. The intern is the therapist you meet with, while the supervisor supports their clinical thinking, treatment planning, ethical practice, and professional growth behind the scenes. That’s an added layer of oversight, which means your care is being thought about carefully by two people rather than one.

Clinical supervision is part of an intern’s professional training, and it’s explained to you during the informed-consent process before you start. Interns may discuss relevant aspects of their clinical work with their supervisor in order to receive guidance and support. Supervisors are also bound by professional privacy and confidentiality obligations. Your therapist can walk you through how supervision works, what may be discussed, and any limits to confidentiality before your first session.

Fees vary depending on the practitioner, their professional designation, and the type of reduced-fee appointment available. During your phone consult, you can discuss fees directly with your prospective therapist and work together to find a rate that works best for you. Affordable spaces are limited, and a practitioner’s fee or training status can change over time; if that happens, we’ll let you know in advance in line with clinic policy.

A good match involves more than the fee. Our team considers what you’d like support with, your goals, your scheduling needs, your preferences, and the practitioner’s experience and areas of focus. A consultation or first appointment is a good way to gauge how comfortable and understood you feel. If the first match isn’t right, we’ll help you explore another available option where we can.

At Healing Roots, you can book a free consultation and our administrative team will tell you what affordable spaces we have open, what the fee would be, and who’s currently taking new clients. We see clients in person at our Mississauga clinic and offer virtual therapy across Ontario, so you aren’t limited to therapists close to home. It’s also worth looking into community health centres, workplace EAP benefits, and student counselling services if you’re in school, since those can be no-cost or low-cost therapy options.

Coverage depends on your plan and on who you’re working with. Most benefit plans reimburse sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist or Registered Social Worker, though plans differ on which designations they’ll accept. Sessions with a psychotherapy intern may also be covered, as interns are supervised by a senior Registered Psychotherapist whose name and licence information appear on the client’s receipt. Many clients are able to claim these sessions under the intern’s clinical supervisor, but you’ll need to confirm that your insurance provider covers supervised practice. We recommend checking your plan before booking and letting our team know what you find so we can match you accordingly.

OHIP covers mental health care delivered by a physician or a psychiatrist, along with some hospital and community programs. It doesn’t cover private-practice sessions with a Registered Psychotherapist, a Registered Social Worker, or a psychologist, which is why so many people end up paying out of pocket or through benefits. Reduced-fee therapy exists to fill that gap for people who don’t have coverage, or who’ve used up what they had.

Yes. Many of our reduced-fee appointments are available as virtual therapy, which means you can meet from home anywhere in Ontario without paying for parking, gas, or a sitter. Virtual sessions work well for anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, and grief, and they tend to be easier to fit around work or school. Some clients prefer being in the room, and we offer in-person affordable appointments in Mississauga as well.

There is no set number of therapy sessions, as each person’s needs, goals, and pace are different. However, research suggests that structured, consistent therapy can support stronger outcomes, particularly at the beginning of a new therapeutic relationship. For this reason, we encourage clients to begin with weekly appointments and, whenever possible, book their first four sessions consecutively. Research also suggests that many clients may begin to experience meaningful improvement within approximately 12 sessions, although progress varies from person to person. Your therapist will work with you to find a consistent schedule that feels manageable, review your progress, and adjust the frequency as needed. Because affordable spots are limited, we’ll also be upfront about how long we can hold your recurring appointment time so you can plan accordingly.
