Autism Assessment for Teens & Adults In Mississauga
An autism evaluation can give words to a lifetime of feeling different, confirm what you've long suspected, and show you how your mind works.
An autism assessment can help you or your teen:
Understand Why Daily Life Has Always Felt Harder
Get A Formal Diagnosis And Written Report
Replace Self-Blame With Self-Compassion
When you've spent years sensing you're wired differently, you deserve to understand why
You’ve learned to read the room, rehearse conversations, and copy the people around you so you’d fit in. From the outside, it works. On the inside, it’s exhausting, and you’re left wondering why connection, change, or a busy room costs you so much more than it seems to cost everyone else. Maybe you’ve been told you’re anxious, sensitive, or too much, but none of those words have ever felt like the whole story.
An autism assessment helps make sense of those experiences, names the strengths that come with them, and gives you a clear path forward.
What you might be experiencing
Many people come to us feeling…
- Drained after social interactions that seem effortless for others
- Confused about why change, transitions, or unexpected plans feel so destabilizing
- Overwhelmed by sounds, lights, textures, or other sensory input
- Worn out from masking, or hiding traits to appear more like everyone else
- Dismissed after being told you're "just anxious" when something deeper seems to be going on

What Is An Autism Assessment And How Does It Work?
An autism assessment is a comprehensive evaluation for teens & adults that helps explain how you experience the world, relate to others, and process information. The assessment includes clinical interviews, standardized questionnaires, and validated tools that explore social communication, sensory experiences, emotional regulation, patterns of behaviour, and your history from childhood to now. It’s more than a single test. It’s a thorough, personal process that considers the whole of who you are, including your history, your challenges, your strengths, and the particular ways you think and connect.
If you’re wondering whether autism may be part of your story, an assessment can help you make sense of your experiences with more clarity and compassion. This can be especially helpful for teens and adults who have spent years feeling different, overwhelmed, misunderstood, or unsure where masking ends and their true needs begin.
Through the assessment process, you’ll receive a detailed written report, practical recommendations, and guidance for next steps. This may include workplace or school accommodations, therapy recommendations, community support, or simply a clearer understanding of yourself and the way your brain works.
You want to understand yourself more fully. An autism assessment in Mississauga can show you how.

What An Autism Assessment Can Help You Understand
Many autistic people find that social interaction takes more effort than it seems to take others. An assessment explores how you navigate conversation, connection, and social relationships, and the energy it costs you to keep up.
If you’ve spent years hiding autistic traits to fit in, that work often goes unseen, including by you. We explore the ways you may have learned to camouflage, and what it has cost you to keep doing it.
Sound, light, touch, taste, and texture can affect you more intensely than people around you realize. An assessment looks at how sensory input shapes your daily life, comfort, and capacity.
Strong feelings, unexpected change, and demanding days can feel overwhelming in ways that are hard to explain. We explore how you experience and manage emotion, so it makes more sense to you.
Eye contact, tone, and body language can feel unfamiliar or effortful to read and use. An assessment considers how nonverbal communication shows up for you and where it feels like work.
Everyday tasks, routines, and transitions can take more planning and energy than they appear to. We look at how you manage daily life and where added structure or support could help.
Deep, absorbing interests and a preference for routine are part of how many autistic people thrive. We explore these strengths alongside your need for predictability and the comfort it brings.
Anxiety, burnout, and depression are common when Autism has gone unrecognized. An assessment can help untangle what’s been misread for years, so you can address the right thing.
Many adults and teens were missed or misunderstood earlier in life, particularly those who learned to mask well. An assessment offers the clarity that earlier years didn’t, with self-understanding instead of self-blame.

Psychologists & Psychometrists Supporting Autism Assessments
Our Approach
Our Autism Assessment Process
Step 1: Initial Consultation and Information Gathering
We begin with a clinical interview to understand your concerns, your history, the experiences that brought you here, and what you’re hoping to understand. To build a complete picture, we may also ask you, and sometimes a family member or someone who knew you growing up, to complete questionnaires about social communication, sensory experiences, and daily functioning.
Step 2:
Assessment and Testing
Step 3: Results, Diagnosis, and Recommendations
We will carefully review all results, interviews, and questionnaires to understand your strengths, your challenges, and whether your experiences meet the criteria for autism. We then meet to walk through the findings together, answer your questions, and review personalized recommendations. You’ll receive a detailed written report that summarizes the findings, the diagnosis, if one applies, and practical strategies, which can be shared with workplaces, schools, or other professionals to help you access the support you’re entitled to.
What Happens After The Autism Assessment?
Once the autism assessment in Mississauga is complete, you’ll leave with more than a report. You’ll have answers, language for what you’ve always felt, and a renewed sense of self-understanding. You’ll gain:
- A deeper understanding of how your mind works, including your strengths
- Clear recommendations for therapy, accommodations, or community support
- Relief from the confusion and self-blame that often come with going unrecognized for years
- Confidence to advocate for yourself with clarity and self-respect
- A foundation to move forward personally, socially, and professionally

Questions About Autism Assessments
An adult or teen autism assessment is a structured evaluation conducted by a psychologist to understand how you experience the world and relate to others, and to determine whether Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may be part of the picture. It explores social communication, sensory experiences, emotional regulation, nonverbal communication, adaptive functioning, and your developmental history. The goal is to identify your strengths and challenges, determine whether your experiences meet the criteria for Autism, and offer recommendations that support your well-being.
You might consider an autism assessment in Mississauga if you or your teen:
- Feel drained or overwhelmed after social interactions
- Have spent years masking or camouflaging to fit in
- Experience strong sensitivities to sound, light, touch, or other sensory input
- Find change, transitions, or unexpected plans particularly difficult
- Have been told you’re “just anxious,” yet sense something deeper is going on
- Are seeking clarity, particularly if you suspect you were missed or misunderstood earlier in life
Yes, when the findings support one. Because your assessment is conducted by a registered psychologist, they can provide a formal diagnosis of Autism if your experiences meet the criteria. If they don’t, you’ll still leave with a clear understanding of what’s going on and thoughtful recommendations for next steps. Either way, the goal is clarity, not a predetermined outcome.
You’ll receive a detailed written report that summarizes the findings, the diagnosis if one applies, and practical, personalized recommendations. Before the report, we’ll meet for a feedback session to walk through everything together and answer your questions. The report is yours to keep and can be shared with workplaces, schools, or other professionals to help you access accommodations, therapy, or other support.
You might consider an assessment if you or your teen feels drained by social situations, has spent years masking to fit in, experiences strong sensory sensitivities, or finds change and unexpected plans particularly difficult. Many people seek clarity after years of sensing they’re wired differently, or after being told they’re “just anxious” when something deeper seemed to be going on. If any of this feels familiar, an assessment can offer the understanding you’ve been looking for. If you’re not sure whether it’s the right step, you’re welcome to start with a free consultation.
The full autism assessment process typically takes 3 to 5 weeks, depending on scheduling and complexity. It includes:
- A detailed intake and information-gathering session
- Two to three assessment sessions
- Scoring and interpretation by the psychologist
- A comprehensive written report, provided within 1 to 2 weeks of the final session
- A feedback session to review results and recommendations
Yes. We offer autism assessment for teens and adults virtually across Ontario, as well as in person in Mississauga. Many adults and teens find a virtual assessment more comfortable and accessible, and we’ll talk through which option suits you best during your consultation.
There’s no studying or preparation that can change the outcome, so the best thing you can do is come as you are. It helps to reflect on your experiences, or your teen’s, across different stages of life, from early childhood to now. Gathering any past reports, school records, or notes that feel relevant can give us useful context. If possible, it also helps to ask a family member or someone who knew you or your teen growing up to share their observations. Most of all, know that there’s no way to pass or fail; this is a process of understanding, not judgment, so answer as openly and honestly as you can.
After autism testing in Mississauga, we’ll meet for a feedback session to go over the findings, answer your questions, and provide recommendations. You’ll also receive a detailed written report that can be shared with workplaces, schools, or other professionals to help you request support, such as therapy or other clinical support, workplace or school accommodations, or referrals to additional services or community resources.
No. You can book an autism evaluation for your teen or yourself directly with us, with no referral from your family doctor required. If you’d like to talk through whether an assessment is the right step before committing, you’re welcome to start with a free consultation.
Everyone deserves a life of peace and happiness. Therapy can offer tools and strategies to help you find relief, regain control, and live a more fulfilling life.
