1. HOW DOES PSYCHOTHERAPY WORK?
The process of therapy involves developing a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client, which allows the individual to talk openly and confidentially about their experiences and feelings. Psychotherapists and counselling interns are trained professionals, who use various skills to help the client overcome problematic behaviours, thoughts and feelings. The process of change involves an active effort on your part, and although it may involve facing uncomfortable experiences and feelings, it can often lead to better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and a sense of wellbeing.
2. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME?
In the beginning, it is recommended to come every week to give yourself a chance to work on your goals. You will know when it’s time to move to less frequent appointments.
3. HOW MANY SESSIONS DO I NEED TO START SEEING A CHANGE?
It is difficult to know how many therapy sessions you will need as each case is unique depending on what is being worked on. Psychotherapy can go on for years, depending on how much you want to learn and explore.
4. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Individual therapy sessions range from $90 to $145 (+HST ) and Couples and Family therapy sessions are $160 (+HST ). If you are under financial hardship and are committed to doing the work, our psychotherapy interns offer a sliding scale (lower fees). FEES MAY DIFFER BY SERVICE PROVIDER.
