Step 1: Initial Consultation and Information Gathering
We start with a conversation about what brought you here, your teen’s history, how things have gone at school, and what’s been on your mind. We may also look at report cards or past assessments, and ask you to fill out a few questionnaires, so we get the full picture.
Step 2: Assessment and Testing
Over two to three sessions, your teen works through evidence-based cognitive tests that look at reasoning, working memory, processing speed, and other areas tied to giftedness. They may work with both a psychologist and a psychometrist. The psychometrist gives and scores the tests under the psychologist’s supervision, and the psychologist oversees everything, interprets the results, and makes the recommendations.
Step 3: Results, Diagnosis, and Recommendations
We bring it all together, the test results, the interviews, and the questionnaires, to understand your teen’s strengths and learning needs. Then we meet to walk through what we found, answer your questions, and go over your recommendations. You’ll get a detailed written report you can share with your teen’s school or other professionals.
