As a parent, you may struggle to understand your child’s behaviour, their needs and in many situations – how to help them make sense of their world. You may feel like you’re ‘failing’ as a parent because you aren’t sure how to help them cope with their emotions, their outbursts or even their lack of engagement is what should be considered ‘normal’ childhood activities. For our individual sessions, we create a safe and comfortable environment for your child to engage in therapeutic play to explore and express their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Because children often have difficulty expressing their emotions verbally, activities and games can help the thoughts that are running through their heads slow down and start to make sense. Playing also shifts your child’s focus from the pressure of talking to an adult to what they are doing, and sharing what’s on their mind often follows.
