Bio At A Glance:

Kyana is a Registered Psychotherapist offering in-person and online therapy in Mississauga and across Ontario. She provides a warm, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed support for adults, teens (14+), and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, perinatal wellness, and the unique challenges of cultural identity and lived experience. Drawing on an integrative, person-centred approach, she is committed to creating a space where every client’s background, values, and story are honoured and centred.

I understand that for many, seeking therapy is a daunting process that can be overrun with feelings of doubt. Emotions, including anxiety, sadness, guilt, stress, overwhelm, and depression, exist on a spectrum, and individuals who seek therapy often question whether their feelings are “deserving” of support. I want you to know that your experiences, your pain, and your struggles are valid, and you deserve care.

I believe that a culturally sensitive, individualized, and integrative approach allows each client’s needs to be met throughout the therapeutic process. Drawing from person-centred, trauma-informed frameworks, I tailor my approach to each person’s unique circumstances. As a BIPOC therapist who understands the unique experiences of individuals navigating systems that were not always designed with them in mind, I am committed to creating a space where your cultural identity, lived experiences, and values are honoured and centred. Whether you are healing from racial trauma, processing immigration experiences, strengthening cultural identity, navigating family expectations, or finding balance in your mental health and well-being, we will work collaboratively toward your goals.

A sense of safety and understanding is my highest priority. Through our work together, clients often begin to experience greater clarity, stronger coping skills, improved emotional regulation, and a deeper sense of self. I aim to honour the importance of the therapeutic relationship to support your courageous changes, walking alongside you with warmth, respect, and deep cultural awareness.

Life's Motivational Mottos

“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” - Reinhold Niebuhr

Answers to some frequently asked questions:

Many people come to therapy feeling unsure whether their struggles are “serious enough” to deserve support. I want you to know that feelings such as anxiety, sadness, stress, overwhelm, or depression exist on a spectrum, and your experiences are valid. In our work together, I focus on creating a supportive and understanding space where we can explore what you’re going through at your own pace. I draw from approaches like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and trauma-informed care to help you build practical coping skills and emotional clarity. Over time, many clients begin to experience improved emotional regulation, stronger self-understanding, and a deeper sense of balance in their lives.

Yes, providing culturally responsive therapy is an important part of my work. As a culturally responsive therapist, I understand that many individuals navigate systems and environments that were not always designed with their lived experiences in mind. I aim to create a therapeutic space where your cultural identity, immigration experiences, family expectations, and personal values are respected and centred. Clients often come to me to process racial trauma, explore cultural identity, or work through the emotional impact of acculturation and belonging. Together, we work collaboratively to honour your experiences while building tools that support healing and empowerment.

Yes, I support individuals navigating perinatal mental health concerns, which can include emotional changes during pregnancy or the postpartum period. Many people may experience anxiety, sadness, overwhelm, or identity shifts during this time, and it’s important to have a supportive space to process those feelings. My approach is person-centred and integrative, meaning I tailor therapy to your individual experiences and needs. We may explore coping strategies, emotional regulation tools, and ways to navigate the complex transition into parenthood. My goal is to provide a compassionate space where your experiences are validated and supported.

Yes, supporting individuals who are processing trauma, including racial trauma, is a core focus of my work. I use a trauma-informed and integrative approach that prioritizes safety, understanding, and collaboration throughout the therapeutic process. Therapy may include elements of somatic therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, and other evidence-based approaches to help you process experiences in a way that feels manageable. We move at a pace that feels safe while exploring how past experiences may be influencing your current emotional well-being. My goal is to help you build resilience, strengthen coping strategies, and reconnect with a deeper sense of self.
