Beginning to go to therapy can potentially bring up feelings of, fear, being overwhelmed, uncertainty, or maybe even relief. Sometimes we need to have a space and an unbiased party (i.e., not a friend or family member) to help us navigate the challenges and the curveballs that can inevitably show up in our lives.

I utilize a holistic and individualistic approach throughout the therapeutic process, and while recognizing that therapy isn’t a one size fits all approach, I draw on numerous therapeutic approaches that can support the client in how they are experiencing any given situation.

I strive to create a safe, welcoming, non-judgemental, and comfortable environment, which can in turn allow clients to show up as their most authentic selves. Additionally, I strive to both build and continue to maintain the therapeutic relationship, in recognizing the value that this can have in helping a client reach their respective therapeutic goals.

Sara's Experience

Sara is a Registered Psychotherapist and a Yorkville University graduate with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. Prior to working at Healing Roots Therapy, Sara has 12-years experience working within a clinical multidisciplinary team on an Inpatient Unit (ages 9-16) in Toronto, ON. In this role, she focused on crisis intervention, individual/family work, and was involved in treatment planning. While completing her Master’s degree, Sara briefly shifted her focus to working with client’s who have been diagnosed with Acquired/Traumatic Brain Injuries, in her role as both a Rehabilitation Support Worker and a Drop-In Facilitator. Life Outside Sessions

I have a 3-year-old Husky/Shepard who brings me such joy (and at times whose      puppy energy also has me practicing patience and deep breathing.)

I enjoy life’s simplest pleasures including but not limited to, a strong cup of coffee, the feeling of the sun hitting my face on a warm summer’s day and being on/near the water.

I'm introverted and a homebody who enjoys/needs alone time to lean into self-care activities, which in turn allows me to show up as my most preferred self in all interactions.

Life's Motivational Mottos

“I want to be in the arena. I want to be brave with my life. And when we make the choice to dare greatly, we sign up to get our butts kicked. We can choose courage, or we can choose comfort, but we can’t have both. Not at the same time.” -Brene Brown
